theemdash is making a "Thank You for 10 Years!" banner (banner can be viewed here) that's to be signed at Dragoncon next week and then presented to Christopher Judge to bring back to Vancouver.
Now, we know that many people won't be able to attend Dragoncon, but this doesn't mean that you can't be represented there in spirit.
If you want your name added to the banner, please post the name you would like to be listed as here. The name can be your fandom name or your real name, whichever you want to use. :) Come Dragoncon, somebody on the SGOW Track can make the sigs. I'm happy to do it, even. :)
Please spread the word to your flists, boards, lists, and comms that we're collecting names for this.
x-posted many different places.

I posted a long, (but post S9 spoiler free) editorial on what I'm hoping to see in Season Ten and submitted it to the Solutions website.
You can find it here:

In retrospect, I think I sound like the wife from "Citizen Joe" with the character interaction. She made good points!
You can also comment on it in my personal lj. :-)

| Sam Carter meta |
[19 Jun 2006|10:06am] |
I posted a longish meta on Sam last week that has turned into some really interesting discussions on particular character points. All are welcome to respond to the post or to comments and discussions within (particularly encouraged as it's getting bigger than what will allow me to easily respond to everything).
Only requests are no hating, no bashing, no using your outdoor's voice. Thanks.
Currently under discussion are: whether Jack is objectified or a genuinely attractive personality for Sam, if she has a tendency to second guess social situations until she stymies herself, the difference between what she thinks she wants and what would actually be a good match for her, whether the soldier or the scientist came first, how she can do both and how her logical need to fix things can lead to an emotional inability to act and whether she can cook.

I was thinking about why Ben Browder was made the lead for SG-1 instead of someone from the original cast. You can read my speculation about behind-the-scenes politics and the reasons why I disliked it at first but changed my mind over here.

I have some thoughts about slavery motifs both in canon Stargate and in fic. The thread starts ( here. )
It mentions show canon through the end of S8.

I talk about Prometheus' role in Greek mythology and how Promethean myth possibly applies to SG-1, here.
Spoilers up to the most recent aired episode of SG-1.

| Cameron Mitchell - Fanboy, Hero, or just The New Guy? |

I posted on the characterization of Mitchell as we've gotten to know him so far here (spoilers through Stronghold only). For SGA watchers, there's some good discussion in the comments on the use of pilots like Mitchell and Sheppard as leaders and members of ground-based small operations teams.

I comment about SG-1's "Ripple Effect" and SGA's "Critical Mass" here. There's also a look at how the SG shows have handled a situation that arises in the latter in the past. (Also, post includes comments about this week's episode of Battlestar Galactica.)
